The Pony Express
An inside look at the BDFL Rolling Rock Pony Draft
by Mel Kiper, Jr.
FOXBORO - Make no mistake
about it, all the talk around the inaugural Pony will be the Three
Musketeers (Bush, Leinart and Young) however, the true test of this
innovative draft
will come deeper in the round when a team will pick-up a diamond in the rough that will turn into a bona fide Big Daddy gem. Look for the names of Cutler, Maroney
and Holmes to become household names in the league next year and
contribute to their team's fortunes the way Cadillac, Brown and Orton did
in 2005. Jay Cutler could
be the next Jay Grogan without the neck and DeAngelo Williams could the
next Mercury Morris without the cocaine, while Santonio Holmes very well
could be the second coming of Freddie Solomon. Other players
sure to make a favorable impression include Leonard Pope, Derek Hagan and
Laurence Maroney. Sleepers looking
to make an immediate impact include bruising runners LenDale White and Joseph Addai and the fleet receiver Chad Jackson.
Long shots to make a rumble in the BDFL could be Brodie Croyle out of Alabama and linebacker-looking Darrell Hackney from UAB. Teams that scout and prepare well for "The Pony" will be the teams with
the most to gain come this fall. Teams will have to speculate which NFL
team players will go to and how they will fit into their plans in the
fall. With this 2006 Rolling Rock
Pony Draft, the BDFL continues to position itself as the premiere league
it's always been since it's inception by long-time Commissioner, Iron
Hand. Hand's innovative approach to football has truly kept the BDFL
ages in front of other "has been" and "never was" leagues.

All-purpose back Reggie
Bush is a sure bet to go first in the inaugural 2006 BDFL Pony Draft of
this year's rookie crop |
PONY PLAYER
PROFILE
Reggie Bush is a "cod
lock" to be the first player ever selected in the Pony Draft
FOXBORO -
In the 11 years of the BDFL, there has never been a rookie that has been
as highly anticipated coming into the league as USC's Reggie Bush. Maybe
it's the Pony Draft? Maybe it's talent? Maybe it's his unlimited
potential in the BDFL? Whatever, Bush looks to be a "cod lock" when the
Fighting Slovaks make the first ever selection in the BDFL' new and
innovative Rolling Rock Pony Draft, but it is the Slovaks, so we won't
really ever know until it takes place in April.
