The BDFL's playoff rules revisited for clarity

FOXBORO - The BDFL's Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS) is all about rewarding the league's best teams with a chance to advance to the Big Daddy Bowl and play for the league's title. Teams must have at least a 7-7 win/loss record to qualify for playoffs. Teams must win their division outright to automatically be assured of a playoff birth. There will be no automatic reward for a team that does not meet this criteria. If there is no outright clear division winner, the BDFL reserves the right to award a playoff position to another team regardless of their division based on their win-loss record and point total. The BDFL will not reward mediocrity by default. At least seven wins and then most points will determine the other four wildcard playoff spots regardless of division. The BDFL reserves the right to change the schedule late in the season to assure eight teams make up the BDCS.

BDFL important dates remaining this season

FOXBORO - Mark your Outlook calendars for these important dates this season in the BDFL.

> Sunday, December 28th    Big Daddy Bowl VII

> Sunday, February 1st, 2009 The BDFL Super Bowl Gala

Drew Brees and the Rocky Ridge Wildcats are feeling the "pucker factor" to get to seven wins by Week 14 to be eligible for the Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS)

THE BIG STORY

The separation between contenders & pretenders to be decided before BDCS

FOXBORO - The Mayors, Wizards, and Woosiers already have the required seven vict'ries and look like shoo-ins for the Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS). The defending champ Cheetahs, Dogs, Fighting Slovaks and Sloth Monsters already have their rooms booked for Orange Beach for the Big Mullet Series (BMS). So that leaves the Juggernauts, Wildcats, Grenades, Bootleggers, Bullets, Gamblers, PowerSleds, Wooden Warriors and Blitz all battling the proverbial "pucker factor" to see who can get to the needed "Bullet Rule" of seven wins and be playoff eligible. The next five weeks will determine who gets in to compete for a birth in Big Daddy Bowl VII and a shot  at the 2008 BDFL Championship.

Pucker Factor Rankings

Through Week 11

  1. Wildcats - With a high point total (271) but only five wins, the BioCats have the most pressure to get to seven wins first.

  2. Wooden Warriors - A nice point total (234) puts Kawliga in a pretty good position, if they can notch two more Ws.

  3. PowerSleds - Sledheads have the best point total (238) of any second place club, they need to win now to take off the pressure.

  4. Bootleggers - Currently fourth in the rugged Red Neck Division, the Rum Runners need wins and points to play their way in.

  5. Grenades - With the lowest point total (187) in this poll, the Bomb Squad will need more points with their next two wins.
