Selected to the BDFL's first team All-Preseason club, expectations around the league were sky high. Now you must ask yourself...When do you take him when you know he'll miss a least 4-5 games? Who will be the first team to reach? Will it be Vick, or another highly projected prospect? These questions and many more will be answered at the 2003 BDFL Genuine Draft on August 30th. See you there! There will also be prizes in a number of different categories. For more information, or to register for this wonderful outing please contact Mukes, or Iron Hand. Ninth annual BDFL Genuine Draft date set GREEN SPRINGS - Who will be the goat and who will get to gloat? These and many mysteries will be solved when the BDFL convenes for the annual ritual known as the BDFL Genuine Draft. The date is set for the ninth annual BDFL Genuine Draft. The draft will be held on Saturday, August 30th around 6:30pm. The draft will follow the original BDFL draft format will all the teams and players thrown back in the pool. The teams will draw for the first round order and will reverse the order in alternating rounds. Mayors look to repeat using last year's patented "rookie" draft strategy GREEN SPRINGS - The Mayors will once again host the annual BDFL Genuine Draft in hopes of duplicating last year's championship success. Not being fully informed, the "less is more" theory worked out perfectly for the Mayors as they stocked piled talent for the future. Little did they know that the future in the BDFL is now. What strategy will prevail in 03? Stay tuned to TheBDFL.net for these and all the 2003 BDFL Genuine Draft mysteries. Priest Holmes leads the 2003 All-BDFL Preseason Team GREEN SPRINGS - With the dawning of a new season, the media experts have put together the first All-BDFL Preseason Team. This team consists of the players that the experts figure will deliver big years and multi points for their teams in 2003. With running backs being a premium in this league, Priest Holmes and Shaun Alexander headline the inaugural squad. Michael Vick was selected for his predicted break-out season in 2003. Choices that may raise some eyebrows include the Houston Texans defense, wide receiver Joe Horn, and placekicker Adam Vinatieri. Let's see how these players fare in the upcoming 2003 BDFL Genuine Draft. Chances are they'll be the first players to go at their positions. The BDFL's toughest teams reside in the Gray Beard Division GREEN SPRINGS - Supremacy is the best word to describe the Gray Beard Division of the BDFL. During the eight years of BDFL play, teams playing in the hardcore GBD have won five (5) of the eight (8) titles. The PowerSleds and the Gamblers have two (2) titles apiece and the Mayors were the 2002 Champions. The Cheetahs and Grenades were founding members of the BDFL and the expansion Woosiers and Bootleggers joined the fold last season (2002). Look for the 2003 Champions to emerge from this group, the BDFL's best and toughest division! They don't call 'em green for nothing GREEN SPRINGS - Green really is the best way to describe the Green Horn Division. During the eight years of BDFL play, teams playing in the "green" GHD have won only three (3) of the eight (8) titles with one very questionable "tainted title" by the Bullets in '97. The only other teams to win untainted titles were the Wizards in '98 and the Sloth Monsters in '01. The division consists of three founding members; Dogs, Wooden Warriors and Bullets. Moping up the puke green in the GHD includes the Blades and Juggernauts. Look for more of the same from this motley crew. They don't call 'em green for nothing! Iron Hand pokes out his chest over the 2002 season GREEN
SPRINGS - Last season was a huge success in the BDFL. Just consider the progress...expansion to Hayden and
Bristol, TN The skinny on the 2003 BDFL schedule Every team will play a home and home series with each division opponent, good for 12 regular season games. Every team will have a natural rival from the opposing division (Ex. Mayors vs. Blades) they will play on a home and home basis, pushing the schedule to 14 games. Also during Weeks 1 and 9, the schedule maker has selected big cross division match-ups to create excitement where the schedule formula may have overlooked some key match-ups (Ex. Wizards vs. Mayors in Week 1). Then in Week 17, the division leaders will be paired up in and all others will be paired-up in their respective bowls to battle for the remaining pride and prize money. How the Juggernauts got their name and identity GREEN SPRINGS - Team GM Allyson Edwards actually approved the name from a list submitted by the Commissioner, Iron Hand. Then the league developed the logo and team theme. The Juggernauts team theme, concept and logo idea came from a combination of the definitions below and Jugtown's heritage. Juggernaut n 1: A massive relentless force that seems to crush everything in its way 2: An overwhelming, advancing force that crushes or seems to crush everything in its path. 1: Any of a band of heroes sailing with Jason in quest of the Golden Fleece 2: An adventurer engaged in a quest The key words that the "logo lords" focused on included...massive relentless force...crush, crushes, crusher...band of heroes...Jason's quest...Golden Fleece...adventurer and The jug plant in Jugtown. The colors came from the Golden Fleece and the ocean blue. Their uniforms resemble those worn by college football's UCLA Bruins. The anchor logo symbolizes water travel and is in the shape of two "Js" for the Jugtown Juggernauts.
